An accomplished international performer, Chinese pianist Tian Lu has appeared as a concerto
soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician throughout Asia, the United States, Europe, and South
America. Recently Ms. Lu received accolades as winner of the Thailand International Piano
Competition, which led to concert engagements with the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra in
their 2008-2009 season. 

Her worldwide success, including First Prize at the International Piano Competition in Maracaibo,
Venezuela resulted in performances with the Maracaibo Symphony Orchestra under conductor
Eduardo Rahn in 2005 and an invitation to debut with the Miami Symphony Orchestra in 2010
under conductor Eduardo Marturet . Further demonstrating her skill as a versatile artist Ms. Lu’s
2009-2010 season included concerto performances with Venezuela Symphonica , performances
at the Duxbury Music Festival with Stars Festival Orchestra and with the Odessa Philharmonic
Orchestra. She is delighted to be invited as a Guest Artist at the Aruba International Piano festival
in 2011. 

Additional appearances include performances with the Sioux City Symphony Orchestra, Oberlin
student Orchestra , and the Venezuela Symphonica. Equally at home as a chamber musician, she
has performed with Maia String Quartet, Dorian String Quartet, and numerous other small ensembles. 

In March 2005, at age 19, Ms. Lu won second prize and was the youngest competitor in the Iowa
International Piano Competition, hosted by the Sioux City Symphony Orchestra. Other early honors
include top awards at the 4th International Piano Competition in memory of pianist Emil Gilels
(second prize), Southern Missouri International Competition, Kingsville International Competition,
and winner of the Liberace Prize in 2004. 
 
Ms. Lu started playing the piano at the age of 4 and continued her studies at the Shanghai
Conservatory. In 2009 she obtained her Artist Diploma from the internationally recognized Oberlin
Conservatory of Music (United States), where she was a student of Ms. Monique Duphil. While
attending Oberlin she was invited to represent the institution in a prestigious performance at the
Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. Additional Oberlin honors include a solo performance in the
2006 Danenberg Honors recital.
